In a remarkable example of ground-level leadership, Army Veteran and Olympic Silver Medalist Col. Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, who currently serves as the MLA from Jhotwara, has taken a major step toward solving one of the region’s most persistent problems — clean water scarcity. As part of his continued focus on village-level development, he recently sanctioned 12 new tubewells across multiple gram panchayats under his MLA Local Area Development (MLALAD) Fund.
From being a decorated soldier to a Cabinet Minister heading five key departments — Information Technology and Communications, Industry and Commerce, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Youth Affairs and Sports, and Military Welfare — Col. Rathore is redefining what it means to serve the nation, both in uniform and in governance.
A Lifeline for Jhotwara’s Villages
For many years, the residents of rural Jhotwara faced daily struggles for clean drinking water. Existing borewells had dried up or become unreliable, and women had to walk long distances to fetch water. With the mercury rising every summer, this crisis only worsened.
Col. Rathore, staying true to his promise of “Vikas Sabke Liye”, identified this issue during his village visits and interactions with gram panchayat heads and local families.
As a result, 12 tubewells were installed in the following key areas:
- Khijuria
- Khudiya Bass
- Maanchwa
- Baberwala Ki Dhani
- And other nearby panchayats
These tubewells are now supplying fresh, drinkable water and are expected to benefit thousands of residents, particularly women and children who bore the brunt of water shortages.
Why This Initiative Matters
Clean water is not just a basic need — it’s a human right. Lack of access to potable water can lead to a rise in diseases, school absenteeism, and poor sanitation.
This initiative:
- Reduces health risks like diarrhea, skin infections, and water-borne diseases.
- Improves school attendance, as children (especially girls) no longer need to miss school for water collection.
- Eases the burden on women, empowering them to pursue livelihoods and education.
- Promotes sanitation and hygiene in rural households.
By ensuring consistent access to clean water, Col. Rathore is enabling sustainable rural living — a core pillar of the Viksit Bharat 2047 vision.
Leadership Rooted in Ground Reality
While many leaders speak of development in grand terms, Col. Rathore’s strength lies in his action-oriented and grounded approach. Whether it is holding Jan Samvad Sabhas to hear public grievances or launching schemes through the Department of Military Welfare or Industry and Commerce, he brings military precision and mission focus to public service.
His recent track record includes:
- ₹25 Crore secured for 15 new rural roads
- 24×7 drinking water pipeline projects
- Multiple free medical camps
- Rozgar Melas for skill-based youth employment
- Promotion of rural entrepreneurship under ITC & Commerce
